You cannot see electricity. Cables are usually hidden inside our walls, and consumer units are often hidden in cupboards, so it is not surprising that we forget to check the condition of our electrical installation for damage or wear and tear.
Faulty and old wiring is one of the main causes or electrical fires in the home. You can reduce the risk of a fire by checking the condition of your cables, switches, sockets and other accessories regularly.
It is recommended that domestic electrical installations are tested at least every 10 years, commercial every 5 years and industrial every 3 years.
New legislation is being introduced in 2020 making it a legal requirement for landlords to have tenanted electrical installations tested every 5 years.
Whether it’s for insurance purposes or peace of mind we have experience in Electrical Installation Condition reporting on all types of premises.
PAT Testing is a legal requirement for all places of business, along with rented and leased accommodation. All electrical items with a lead and a 13A mains plug (& 16A Commando if in a business environment) must be tested.
We can provide Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing) of all equipment that has a lead and can be unplugged or moved easily, from a toaster to a washing machine or a laptop PSU to a photocopier. All items can be tested and logged.
